Along the small two lane roads throughout our rural countryside you will encounter these ghostly reminders that when you least expect it something goes terribly wrong.

Those little crosses are all over the place here; one is right down the road from my house. I can't help it, but every time I see one, I shiver.
You know...I've always wanted to stop and take a picture of those. But was afraid if someone saw me...I'm glad I'm not the only one.We have a lot of them down here. I find graves interesting and beautiful in their own way they speak of sadness true...but also love...and especially to take care on the road.
Sometimes I see those and I hope that one, just one will save someone else's life by making them sober up and slow down, turn off the cell phone and pay attention to the road.
i always think about those. someone was just going about their day to day life 7 a tragedy happened. i think it is touching that someone remembers them. Marti
There is a cross like this just a little ways from our house. I get a little stab in my heart everytime I see it. There are many such crosses here in NW Ohio. Your photo is hauntingly lovely.

I always have the same thoughts that Suzy posted below. I just hope it serves as reminder to someone, even myself at times - SLOW down!

Sorry, I could not see any picture. Just a white box with a red cross but I can see what you were talking about from previous comments.
Just as I pressed save on my previous comment, your picture appeared. Very sad indeed.
These haunted crosses are becoming all-too-common everywhere - and are indeed a sobering sight......
Those little memorials dot the roads everywhere. They always make me so sad for the loved ones, torn apart by tragedy.

It always makes my shudder when I see things like this along the roadside.
Yea seeing those makes me feel creepy inside.
