LAND OF RAINBOWS

PICTURE TAKEN FROM MOVING VEHICLE AT REST STOP...LOL

Yesterday was a good day after a stressed out week. The highlight of the day that altered my mood drastically was the computer hook-up. I could have unpacked a thousand more boxes and still been happy.

I have seen not less than three rainbows in the week I have been here! Very unusual for me. I can't get over how incredibly nice the people are here. Genuinely friendly and helpful. It seems they look you in the eye when they talk to you, they smile! I am not certain what I have been use to, but not this. Maybe I am just attune to niceness so far from home.

The new job is a booger and I may have to break my pseudo silence and write about my work. I knew it was going to be challenging and difficult and physical. I'm not sure if I like it or not. The good thing is it keeps my mind off the sorrow of leaving my family and the state I love to photograph.

I am in awe of the Amish riding their horse and buggies everywhere! We share the road with them. I have been waving at them on the main corridors, but they ignore me. Probably think I'm a tourist. The other day I was taking a mandatory detour through the countryside and slowed down when I came to a bridge ahead. Two buggies were crossing. The first with two men. I was so surprised when both smiled at me and waved! The second buggy carried one very young man who gave me the cool "motorcycle wave" while holding the reins ....and a smile.

Now I know, waving allowed only on less intense by-ways!

Welcome to Indiana!

I lived in Indiana for 2 years and loved it. Well, it was right accross the river from Louisville. I hope you get settled in soon and am anxious to hear about your adventures.  Anne

Mary...I've been absent a while and was so surprised to click on your journal to find that you've moved to another state!  Congratulations and best wishes to you!  Funny...I moved 2 months ago from CT to St. Louis.  And I see Andreakingme moved to LA...what's going on with all the moves?  Again, congrats Mary!

Hmmm...you've graduated to being a true mid-westerner.  I'm glad things are starting to fall into place.  You can vent about the job any time you want...we're listening!  Lisa  :-]

Mary, best wishes to you and Joe as you start this new phase of your lives together. Maybe, in the new state, you could stop calling him Poo-Poo.

Mary,
I certainly hope that after you have had some time
to adjust, that you find that you love your new job!
Amish people riding their buggy's on the road where
you live?  Wow, thats cool!
I hope you and yours adjust to your new surroundings
and quickly.
Much love,
Connie

Well...that's just too cool for words! Just tells me we need to move. People around here are in that NYC frame of mind. Rude and rude. Not to mention unfriendly, antisocial and cold. Brr! I need some warmth like you found in Indiana!

I'm sure the rainbows are a positive sign - - good luck with all your new endeavors! I certainly miss all the Amish & Mennonite people who lived near me when I was in the Missouri Ozarks. They were a treasure!.......Jon

Never say ... "Well ... it can't get any worse!"
These are the "Good 'Ol Days" that you will fondly recall later ... after you've forgotten the pain ...

beginnings at new jobs or new locations can take time to adjust to.  I hope the rainbow is a sign of positive things ahead for you.

Change of environment is always stressful but you seem to be handling this in the Merry Mary way. Glad you are feeling better about the move.

Hi Alpha!  I am a South Dakotian and really miss the "look you in the factor".  I am in Georgia...nice enough...but not home.  I spent most of my childhood in Penna. Dutch country...I totally dig the whole barefoot thing.  Beaitiful pic!  I will be back.

On our way thru Pennsylvania this year I SO wanted to see a buggy...our bus passed two of them and I missed it both times. :(  I'm glad the people are nice there and that you're settling in okay!

I picture everyone driving really fast there and having cool emblems all over their cars . . . .  and buggies.  Isn't that where the race cars roam, just revving their engines, drivers comparing horsepower, anxiously awaiting the next NASCAR extravaganza?

I DO believe the rainbows are YOUR good omen, Alphawoman!!!  ;-l)

It still blows my mind that you're moving into the area that I moved from just last month.

I'll share my hanky with you.
