WEDDING PLAN UPDATE

First of all I would like to thank everyone for their comments. I found them very helpful and insightful.

They have found a Bed and Breakfast that they like. It will cost $600 to rent for the wedding. "What about the reception?" I asked.

"Well, that will cost more!" she replied.

"It's going to cost us more anyway." I was mentally grinding my teeth.

With the late notice, meaning that most people have plans and commitments for the month of August already, I would count on sixty people max. Just family and some friends.

At least they have found a place.

I am cashing in some stocks and waiting for the checks to arrive. Once I send the "seed" money,  the die is cast.

The die is cast.

Wondering if it is my newphews B&B in Springfield, Ky.  His B&B was voted best in KY and one of the best in the USA AND he is president of the KY B&B assoc.  It's called Maple Hill Manor.   It's going to be wonderful Mary, no matter where it is.  Anne

I predict many new chapters to this story! Keep them coming - let me know what I am in for one of these days! I never heard of a wedding in a B&B - that sounds pretty cool.

That sounds like a nice size crowd.  The people that REALLY matter will be there to celebrate with you.

It sounds like it's shaping up nicely, Mary.  Don't tear your hair out now, or you'll have to buy a wig to match your "mother-of-the-bride" outfit...  :)  Lisa  :-]

I know that you probably can't imagine this right now, but you might end up being glad that they are doing this on such short notice .... not as much time to fret and worry ( or is it just ME that frets and worries over these things ?? lol )  I know that, in the end, it will be lovely.  Hang in there, Mom.  All will be well.  Tina

We had 60 at our wedding. It was really the perfect size. I was able to say hi to everyone and still have time to eat and dance. Many brides don't get the chance to enjoy thier own wedding. They are too busy!

For my first wedding we had 100 people. The placecards got messed up and I was so stressed out I never enjoyed myself. When I married my Leprechaun we went to a 200 yr. old inn. I wore a beautiful dress I loved, ivory with beading but it wasn't a bridal gown. We had 40 people and had the time of our lives. I personally think small and intimate is the best. Easier on the purse too. I found lots of ways to economize. We used gerbera daisies and I bought votive candles and holders and made favors very cheaply. Good luck with all the plans! Whatever goes, I am sure it will be a very joyful day for you. :)

Sounds like exciting things are going on!!  Way cool!!  I love weddings!!  But ouch those costs that go with them.  I like the plans you've mentioned so far.  Sounds very nice, elegant, private, perfect.  Hugs,
Lisa
