UNEXPECTED

CHANGES

Isn't it disconcerting that life can seem to be almost perfect, everything falling into place, the very rhythm's of daily life become predictable, reassuring and safe. Suddenly, out of nowhere the monstrous bird of change swoops down and hands you a special delivery announcement!

This has happened to Joe and me. Several things compounded last week to make it a week that we won't ever forget. Joes job is being eliminated. The end of November is the last day the office will be open, then it will be run from a Central location.

We do have some options. Actually, I do not think we have discovered all the options as of yet. The most sparkly and enticing is to follow his job and move to Atlanta. I have yet to sit down and make a list of the pro's and con's for this. I am excited at the prospect of new adventures, a new set of surroundings, new opportunities, escape from doldrums of existence in central Kentucky. On the other hand, my family is here. Bridget would die without me! My Mom and Dad! Joes children! Then again.....Atlanta!

Of course there are other options. I'm scared. Then I'm exhilarated! Then I'm scared again. I have always been the type of person who can accept things and make the best of them. The biggest problem here will be those we have to leave behind.

The other options are not so invigorating!

As you probably know, our "careers" have suddenly totally shifted too! I can totally relate to the fear/exhilaration factor! But I believe that these things happen for a reason. I'm eager to see what exciting things life has in store for you & Joe!!

I really do hope you make the right choice. Moving and escaping...or staying with the people you love. That's a rough choice. I'd wanna run and start over...but would probably stay and wonder what could have been.

Tough decisions when they involve leaving those we love. I hope whatever decisions you make, make the most people happy. Who knows maybe he will get another great job right where you are. I wish you all the best.

OMG ... CONGRATULATIONS!!!  You are saying your pregnant, right?!?  I didn't misunderstand did I?!?!?!?  WoW, so many decisions to make.  I'd be scared, I'd be EXCITED, I'd be scared!  I'll keep you, Joe and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry about the job loss:(  Praying you and Joe will look back on this crossroad in your life and see it as a blessing! Sometimes where we are is not so much important as who we are. Don't lose heart....I have no doubt there is a job out there with Joes name on it. Peace to you.

Scary!  I hope you decide what will make you the happiest!  It is very difficult to leave family behind, but, if you're able to do that, I think you will have lots of fun in Atlanta!   Good luck with your decision!  JAE

Sorry to hear about Joe's job.  If it's any consolation, I love Georgia.  I hated it the first 3 months, but after that, I loved it.  The shopping is phenomenal.  The weather is great.  There are plenty of jobs.  But the traffic does suck.

Way to try to think of ways to make lemonade out of this lemon!  This is a challenge, Mary, but you can turn it into an opportunity, an adventure, SOMEthing positive.  Good luck and keep us posted!  Lisa  :-]

Ugh!  So many of my family and friends have lost their jobs during the past few years.  I'd say I'm grateful it's an election year so we can get back the way things used to be...but I'm afraid we've got at least four more years of job loss.

I'm sorry for you guys.  I hope things work out.  I'd hate to live in a big city with big city traffic jams, but Atlanta is exciting, too.

What a challenge.  I'm not sure that I could move away but, on the other hand, something new would be so exciting.  I have a friend who LOVES her life in Atlanta.  It could be great... .

Oh wow!  Those are some major changes.  Wow!  Do you know Atlanta well?  If you move, how secure is his job there?  It does sound exciting.  I thinking of you, and am sure you will make the best decision.

Wow, those are pretty big decisions you need to make.  While the thought of moving is exciting, the actual event may be quite scary.  Leaving your daughter could be very traumatic, but after a while you would get used to the distance and there's always visiting.  I think in the end, your heart will guide you.  Take care.

Not an easy one, Mary. I know you'll figure out what to do, though.

Well?  Is anything new happening with this possible move?  I'm dying to know!  Moving to Atlanta was the BEST thing that has ever happened to me, so I am curious to know whats going on with you!  Pamela

Sweetie, I know it would be difficult for your family, but remember too that life is meant to be lived.  The best example you could ever set for your daughter is to seek your own happiness, so that she remembers to do the same in her time.  Also, life is short.. but it's also longer than people give it credit for sometimes.  If you move to Atlanta and don't like it, you can always move back in a year or two, having had your adventure.  I think so many of us tend to live our lives for OTHER people.  Live for yourself!!  [I don't mean to sound bossy, just supportive and encouraging. LOL]  It will be interesting to see what you and Joe decide.  I'm sorry either way to hear that his office is closing.  No matter what, I'm sure it will work out for the best.  Life is so unpredictable sometimes.  ::hugs::

Come on down!   Atlanta's not so bad.  In fact, it'd be pretty darn close to perfect if we had an ocean.  But luckily the beach isn't too far (6 hours).  The worst is the traffic, but isn't that the same problem every large city has?  I know leaving family and friends would be difficult, but just think it could be worse..... You could be thinking about relocating to ______(insert any freezing cold city here).  haha...   ~Sieblonde  http://journals.aol.com/sieblonde/Pfft

Change is like that..scary and invigorating. That hardest part about change sometimes, is having to leave people we are close to.

Hang in there.

Change is always difficult but it seems to always end up being the best thing. Sorry about Joe's job. I hope you two figure out something that works best for all of you. :-) ---Robbie

One important step in your decision making should be to get all the info you can on your options. That includes checking on Joe's job prospects near where you live now. Decision-making steps are on my mind these days due to the extremely boring assignments on the subject I'm currently wading through at UoP.)

Good luck, choose well, and keep us posted!

Sorry to hear about this, but I'm sure you'll make the best decision. It is said that sometimes things like this happen for the best...but I think it's truer that sometimes people make the best of things like this. I'm sure you will.
