GLOOMY FOGGY RAINY MOODY 2005

NEW YEAR DAY 2005 NEWPORT, KY

I have been on a breather for a couple of weeks.  Now I’m back!

We have not seen the sun the past several weeks.  Then Sunday! After teasing us with occasional breaks in the clouds.  BAM! Sunshine all day.  It made me yearn for sunny smeared days, palm trees bending and waving in the breezes, tropical locations, cruises.  The sun  packed up and left again.  I am weary of over cast skies and dull dreary days.

I have not been doing much.  Zorro and I went to a place in Newport for New Years Eve called SOUGHTGATE HOUSE where we celebrated with a rowdy Rock -a- Billy band called Straw Boss.  It was a blast.  Even if I did meet the Menace to Society and his waving cigarette!  I escaped unharmed as did my hair and my jacket.

The lack of sunshine is effecting me and once again has brought a case of the dull drums and lethargic musing about life.  The disaster in Asia  touched me profoundly.  My closest friend is going through a very bad time.

I know what it feels like to wake up in the morning, emerge from the dream world and for a few comforting moments everything is safe and secure.

Then you  remember.

And the waking night mare begins anew.

Great picture! Oh, you saw sunlight? I could use a picture of it, since we sure haven't seen any! Sorry things are down, I hope they pick up for you and your friend. xoxo

That lovely photo seems a metaphor for sadly your un-lovely thoughts. I remember that exact feeling in the mornings when I was steeped in my full-fledged depression. Perhaps it is simply the winter blahs. If it is more profound, get some help for yourself. The fact that you haven't been blogging, may be a sign. It's been tough my end, too. And I've got the palm trees...yikes!
Feel better...our thoughts are with you.

Wonderful picture, Mary.  Seems an apt illustration of your mood.  Hope you come out of it soon.  The sun will shine again.  Lisa  :-]

Your photo captures the mood of your entry perfectly.  I think a lot of us are expriencing the same thing...the doldrums from lack of SUN!!  Hang in there...this can't last forever.

We haven't had much sun in Minnesota either. It's odd because usually this time of year there is lots of snow, yet the sky is incredibly blue most of the time. But this year, it is gray and gloomy, not much snow, just dirty ice everywhere which just about matches the color of the sky.  It does affect your mood after awhile, I agree.  Your new years eve sounds really fun.

Mary!!!!!!!!! Glad you're back! !!!!!!! (Doing the happy dance) Missed your pictures and entries. I like the picture. Its an appropriate one for the entry. Sorry you are in a funk and about your friend. I was melancholic too for a while.  "The sun comes out tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar." Felt like singing that Annie song for you.

Mary, glad to see you back, you were MISSED!  AT least I was missing you. The picture above is awesome, even if it made me shiver.  Or was it my own frigid weather here that is making me shiver?  Whatever, it's a great picture.

The tsunami has touched many of us. I have started looking into volunteering at Worldvision or some other respectable organization, anything where I could possibly help. Now the mud slide in CA, that hit close to home.  Just so much devistation.

Glad to see you back.  I hope things improve for you.

Wow, that is a stunning picture.  You have the eye.

As you know, we've been drenched with rain in L.A. the past few days.  It has lifted now and the sun has started to shine.  Except there was much property damage and about a dozen fatalities, sigh.  I suppose after something like the tsunami we should count our blessings, but it doesn't make the loss any lighter...

I hope the sun peeks out in your neck of the woods soon.  Hope you had a wonderful holiday season and an even better New Year!

beautiful photograph...... I understand what you are saying better than i can express. Sometimes when I wake in the morning, before my eyes open, I listen to here my children.
Thinking of you. judi

Mary, glad you are back!  WOOHOO!  The new year has started, so jump on in.  I love the pic, as always, and can't wait for more.  Have you indeed made any travel plans for the year?  The Rockabilly band sounds very fun!  Glad you and Zorro enjoyed the festivities!  Cya, Kris

I think that feeling is the worst of them all. Waking up and feeling good...then remembering what happened and what you need to do. The best feeling is waking up and finding it was all a nightmare your mind made up. I hope things are better soon...for your weather and most of all for your friend!

Terrific photo; very evocative of the mood you describe; a kind of poetic melancholy.  Nice.

I think the world happenings are making us all down in the dumps. We must help them until they no longer need us.
That photo is so haunting and yet beautiful.

I can hear the fog horn!  In order to survive I had to turn away from Asia.  I go to school with a girl that was to leave December 17th to Asia for three weeks.  I have not heard anything about her locally and I do not know anyone else who knows her.  I just hope I see her face Jan. 24th when we start back.
