Mom was in surgery for over five hours yesterday afternoon. The hospital sent us progress reports through out the operation. Around 8pm they sent a nurse who requested us to wait in a conference room for the doctor. All afternoon the doctors had been entering the waiting room and speaking with the families. Or leading them into the conference room.
It was an intense five minutes waiting for him. I was on the verge of tears and could not articulate my fears to my brother and sister-in-law.
He came in and told us she was in recovery and had done marvelous. They fixed her leaky valve and did a quad by-pass. The breathing tube was to came out around 5am. Now we wait for evidence of stoke.

Nothing quite as intimidating as those damn conference rooms. Brings back yucky memories... So glad your Mom made it through the surgery. Hope she's well on the way to recovery soon. Lisa :-]

hey there, mary, i'm sorry to just find out about your mom's health problems and surgery. but the news in this post is quite positive, and i hope it has continued that way. it's a hard time of life, this one, when our parents start to need so much care - we want to do so much to help, and don't know how much is possible. i will keep you and your mother in my heart, and check back to see how you both are.
Glad to hear things went well. Now for the road to recovery. You can all breathe easier and sleep a little more sound. :) xo
