DRIED UP (in more ways than one)

(My Favorite Picture from Jamaica)

For the first time since beginning to journal on line, I feel like I have dried up. I have spent over two years babbling about everything from High School to Ireland and then back again.

I think my inspiration sprang from my surroundings in Kentucky. There was always something available to spark a memory or throw my mind into thinking mode. Every road, every corner, every season, a song, people, weather, cemeteries, could open the creative doors. There seems to be nothing around to prod me into writing an ingenious entry!!

I have only written five pieces this month!!! Five!!! (this makes six). And I just got back from a vacation! And I almost have nothing to say about it. Incredible. I can't figure out what is wrong with me.

The upside has been that I am reading books again.

My long lost buddy emailed me this week end. I am so looking forward to seeing her in person soon. Though neither one of us has broached the subject as of yet, I know it is just around the corner.

It has sent me into a tailspin! I wonder if she could even recognize me now that I am well into middle age. The last time she saw me I was a smug skinny 30 year old. I am no longer smug nor skinny. I made an emergency visit to the drug store to stock up on miracle moisturizer and hair color.

I began a diet this morning! So far, so good.

I am about to commit to running the Triple Crown in Louisville beginning in Mid-March. I just need to check the dates to ensure there is not a conflict with The Saw Doctor concert in Cleveland on the 17th. My knee seems to have healed up nicely, time to tear it up again.

I figure that in six weeks, I should be ready to see her again. I will plan it so that I can saw breathlessly, "I just finished the 5K and was XXXXX in my age group."

Then she can say, "What a coincidence, I just turned down my XXXXX proposal of marriage."

It will be just like old times.

I didn't get a picture of my favorite view in Jamaica - one time when we walked off the cruise ship, we walked over a bridge above a small river. Below, I could see a young man taking a bath in the river. I cannot remember now if there was a small waterfall or not - he was naked, which distracted me from seeing much else, lol. I wondered if it was a photo shoot for a magazine, because he certainly could have been a model. He was one of the most beautiful men I ever saw.

The reunion with your friend will give you much fodder, I think! It will be so exciting to see her, catch up, and relive all the memories you retravel :)

xoxo

The Saw Doctors are great. I have kept in constant touch with my best friend from grade school. She has married twice: both millionaires. We have little in common. She has never worked a DAY and her life now is a perpetual vacation while I struggle to have life's necessities at times. Still, the history and emotional ties are with us and we manage to connect with each other in a way that no one else can. We have had a few minor tifts here and there but nothing major. I hope your reunion will be wonderful.

Nobody's inspired ALL the time, and this was an interesting entry anyway.  I'm sure you'll have more to say soon.  - Karen

Reading is the greatest way to unblock a mental wall.   Take it careful on the run as you could really do some damage to your knee.    I know, but mine were injured, and they are both replaced.   I love to walk.    mark

Seems like you feel a bit like I did some months back and that's the need to live more and write less. Nothing wrong with that. I only put an entry in now if I feel very strongly about something.....even if the world can't figure out why. : )

PS....I love the photo here. It's warm. : )

Very nice to get a chance to stop by your blog.  I have been so behind on my alerts.  Goodness, actually I was buried.  Lol.  I know what you mean about inspiration for writing.  Have been having a bit of trouble myself.  I write anyways even though it's just about my boring little world.  Kentucky is a beautiful place.  I can see why you had inspiration there.  I missed the Irish entries and the highschool entries.  It's been crazy lately.  No recent proposals of marriage to boast of but then I'm a married mommy and can't imagine boasting of anything but all the work I have to do.  Hugs,
Lisa

I love the photograph and I can easily see why it's a favorite of yours.  As for the lack of journaling - I've been in the same boat.  Not due to a move.  I think, it's been just getting out or even staying and returning to some of my other loves.  Such as reading books. :-)  Don't give up the journal, I enjoy reading about your trips and everything else in between!

Writer's block? Naw, you'll never be "dried up", Mary! After blog babbling for a long time, I ,too, feel like I've said it all. My entries are getting stale......
